01What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies include local storage and tracking pixels. This notice covers all of them.
02What this site uses
We do not set any cookie of our own. The cookies that can appear come from our host, Cloudflare, when its bot protection is active on a request, and, only if you choose Accept, from LinkedIn:
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Type and duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| __cf_bm | Cloudflare | Tells people from automated traffic so the site stays available | Strictly necessary. Expires after 30 minutes of continuous inactivity |
| cf_clearance | Cloudflare | Records that your browser passed a security check | Strictly necessary. Lasts for the clearance period set on our host |
| li_sugr, bcookie, lidc and similar | Set by the LinkedIn Insight Tag, LinkedIn's advertising tag, which receives data about your visit and your device (the page viewed, the referring page, your IP address, browser and device type) and LinkedIn's own cookie identifiers; we use it to measure visits that come from our LinkedIn posts and adverts | Optional: only after you choose Accept. Duration set by LinkedIn's cookie policy |
Cloudflare's two cookies are strictly necessary for delivering the site securely, so they do not depend on your choice. LinkedIn's are optional.
We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, the analytics of our host. It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and does not track you across sites; it records page views, the referring site, browser type and country, in aggregate.
The one thing this site stores itself is your answer to the cookie choice shown at the bottom of the page: a single entry named dcs-consent in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your browser and is strictly necessary to remember your answer. Reject is as easy as Accept, and either answer leaves the site working the same.
If you choose Accept, we load the LinkedIn Insight Tag, LinkedIn's advertising tag. It sends LinkedIn data about your visit and your device (the page viewed, the referring page, your IP address, browser and device type) and LinkedIn's own cookie identifiers; we use it to measure visits that come from our LinkedIn posts and adverts. Your briefing-form answers and the emails you send us are never sold and never shared for advertising; we do not pass them to LinkedIn. If you choose Reject, or make no choice, it never loads.
03How to control cookies
Your browser lets you block or delete cookies at any time. If you block Cloudflare's security cookies, a page may ask you to pass a security check again. To withdraw your consent, choose Change my cookie choice and then Reject: the page reloads without the LinkedIn Insight Tag, and the tag does not load again on any page while your choice is Reject, including in other tabs. Cookies LinkedIn has already set stay in your browser under LinkedIn's control until they expire or you delete them in your browser settings.
04Cookies are not the whole story
Even without cookies, the services that deliver the pages process technical data such as your IP address. Our Privacy Policy explains this.
05If this changes
If we add anything else that is not strictly necessary, it will run only for visitors who accept, and we will list it here before it starts.
